Literary Activities
The focus is on all the four language skills Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. These enhance the student’s talents and capabilities. The inter-house competitions organised by the literary members not only help the students to develop individual talent but also gain confidence and also learn to work in team spirit. The activities are made more lively to make learning interesting and fun-filled.
Here are some glimpses of our literary activities:
Spell bee
In our institutions, Spell bee competitions are organized to help students to learn to spell quickly, accurately and with comprehension. It encourages students to explore the English language. Finally all students are given a fair chance to qualify for the competition through a series of spell well classes, performance being rated on the number of correctly spelt words.
Story Telling
It helps the children to create a positive attitude towards the learning and stimulates their imagination.
The ways are
- Situational talk.
- Creating a story by connecting the clue words.
Creative Writing
It makes the students to feel reluctant and threatened by a blank paper and a request to write a story about a given topic. It gains confidence for reluctant writers and eager writers gain the skills to create higher quality writing.
Debate
It is the way to express their ideas on certain topics by their own practical expressions. It promotes students in defending or opposing a particular stance on a topic.
Extempore
Students are asked to speak on their spot topics for 2 or 3 minutes. It promotes their Fluency, Imagination skill and Presence of mind.
Read and rhyme
Read and Rhyme is a fun interactive program for children. The hour consists of sing-along songs, rhymes, puppets, shakers, a parachute, stories and finishes with play time.
Jingles
Students will write a jingle to advertise their favorite products. The writing process involves creating rhyming lines and composing a tune for their short song.
Slogans
Students will interpret their thoughts about various pictures, symbols, and slogans and understand the meaning of "transfer," "catchphrase," and "catchwords" in persuasive writing.
