(Dr.Radhakrishnan State Awardee)"You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives" - Clay P. Bedford.

Absolutely I go with Clay P. Bedford's ideology. Yes, for me teaching is not imparting the content from the text books; it is something committed and creative, which must kindle and nurture the thirsty minds of the young generation.

I love watching our students walk into the school in the morning. Standing outside, I see students from different backgrounds, cultures, religions and walks: all unpretentiously dressed in uniform clothing, carrying book bags and I am inspired and urged to do my level best to nourish them with knowledge, courage and discipline, which they could carry throughout their life.

Our students range in age starts from two years of course, from toddlers to the naughty kiddies. They study everything from code breakers to calculus, using a range of technologies from pencils, paper and chalk to computers and smart boards. But one commonality they all possess is the trust and confidence on our institution, to take them to the limelight.

The key aspects of the character of Sri Vijay Vidyashram can be summarized easily: we stand for academic excellence and education of the whole person beyond the curriculum, within a framework of ethical, disciplined, caring teaching that goes back thousands of years in India. We value decorum, courtesy, self-discipline and honesty because the world values these virtues as strength that will help students rise above the pack and achieve respect in their chosen fields. Apart from imparting all virtues and values listed, we also provide a lot of emotional comfort to the students. So, this year we have introduced the mentoring, where the teachers will be assigned a group of 8-10 students, and the teacher acts as a parent and mentor to the students.

Sri Vijay Vidyashram students pursue their hopes and destiny with a kind of courage and commitment that many of their peers-indeed, many of us simply can't understand. And when they are educated in an environment that honors their individual learning style, they succeed-even excel and go to successful experiences in schools, colleges and careers.

I know the challenges what I face at Sri Vijay Vidyashram is and has been the same for all the schools, to create a learning community where growth, discipline and social responsibility is the norm for the teachers and students, where education is treated precious and personal, and where taking a risk to try something new and difficult is cosseted, privileged and celebrated.
